An Improved Heap-Based Optimizer for Optimal Reactive Power Dispatch

Optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) in a typical system is complicated multi-objective optimization problem. The proper modeling of the problem has significant impact on operation and control. In this paper, an Improved Heap-based optimizer (IHBO) proposed to improve performance recently published technique called (HBO). addition, two algorithms based original HBO IHBO are developed for solving OPRD Pareto front approach utilized algorithm with aim or three objective functions simultaneously. improved by utilizing chaotic sequences improving its global search capability avoiding getting stuck local optimum. Both applied determine optimal settings generator’s voltages, shunt capacitor power, tap transformers. Therefore, study aims minimizing most real loss, total voltage deviation (TVD) stability index (VSI), satisfying different operational constraints. effectiveness tested test systems IEEE 30-bus, 57-bus, 118-bus systems. results compared literature. simulation proven superiority robustness ORPD
